Auto-driving mobility in 1/5 and 1/10 sizes of vehicle sizes conducted a race to carry out truck movement and obstacle passing missions based on various sensors and controllers. The driving course consists of a lane-recognition driving course, a Waypoint driving using GPS, and a tunnel section designed to prevent the use of sensor functions after video processing through the camera. Students majoring in electronic engineering at Gangnam University participated twice in a row following the second competition in 2023 and had the opportunity to learn and experience electric vehicles and autonomous driving technologies along with various programs at the World E-Mobility Expo. Professor Kim Chang-hyun, an electronics major who participated as a guidance professor at the competition, said, “It was a good opportunity for our students to develop their expertise in the autonomous driving field, one of the major technologies of future mobility.” Ko Jae-hyun, CEO of IoT Electronics, said, “Although we did not win the prize at this competition, it was a good opportunity to develop self-driving-related capabilities and form a network with students from other universities. I will try again so that I can win the prize next year.” The Electronics and Semiconductor Talent Training Center plans to support students to participate in the 7th Kookmin University Self-Driving Contest and the 4th Cheongju University Self-Driving Contest to be held in August.
